Exploring the Future of Garment Manufacturing at Texprocess Americas

Our Managing Director, Mr Chalumpon, recently returned from an insightful visit to Texprocess Americas, where he explored the latest advancements in automation and AI-driven software for the garment industry.

From cutting-edge technologies to thought-provoking seminars, the event highlighted how AI is transforming sewn products manufacturing—not by replacing people, but by empowering them. As one speaker aptly put it, many factories today operate like “black boxes”, full of activity and constant firefighting. AI brings much-needed **visibility**, enabling real-time decision-making rather than reactive responses. It’s like having thousands of invisible employees working behind the scenes.

Mr Chalumpon attended sessions on how AI can serve as an “assistant” to help us make better decisions, streamline operations, and eliminate repetitive tasks. With labour costs accounting for over **30% of total garment costs**, these tools are essential—not to replace our people, but to “reskill” and elevate them into more value-added roles, leading to happier and more fulfilled employees.

One particularly engaging discussion focused on whether AI can revolutionise OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness). The key takeaway? Data is the foundation, but it must be “rewarding” for employees to collect it. Establishing a feedback loop, gamifying incentives, and increasing the frequency of performance reviews were highlighted as critical strategies.

Another major theme was the reshoring of garment production in the US. With costs exceeding $0.40 per minute, success will depend on **high automation and lean production techniques**—a challenge, but also a significant opportunity.

We’re excited to bring these insights back to our teams as we continue building a smarter, more agile, and people-first future in garment manufacturing.
