Fast Forward for VT Garment: Insights from CISMA 2025 & Factory Visits in China

Just returned from an energising trip to CISMA 2025 in Shanghai, followed by visits to leading garment manufacturers in Ningbo and Wuxi. What we witnessed was truly world-class — organised, clean, efficient, and a clear signal of where the global garment industry is heading.
At CISMA, automation and AI were front and centre. But while innovation dazzles, we continue to advocate for a balanced approach: pick the nearby fruits while reaching for the higher ones. Sometimes, it’s the basics that make the biggest difference.
Take the presser foot — a small but vital part of the sewing machine. It’s one of the few components that actually touches the fabric, guiding its path like a rail track. Yet it’s often overlooked. The truth is: no one presser foot fits all. Choosing the right one is essential for consistent output and quality.
Technology alone isn’t enough. Behind every successful system are skilled, thoughtful people. Automation, AI, and craftsmanship must go hand in hand. The future of sewn products still depends on human insight, care, and precision.
This trip reaffirmed my belief: VT Garment’s future lies in harmonising innovation with fundamentals, and in empowering our people to thrive in both.
