From Fibre to Future: AI, Sustainability & the Textile Revolution

We are proud to share that our Managing Director, Mr Chalumpon, recently took part as a panel speaker at the Cotton USA Chronicles 2025, co-organised by Cotton USA Thailand and the U.S. Embassy. The event brought together thought leaders from across the textile and fashion industries to explore the urgent need for transparency, innovation, and sustainability in our supply chains.

The panel, titled “From Fibre to Future: Real-World Applications of AI and Sustainability in Textiles,” sparked powerful discussions. One speaker aptly remarked, “We must think outside the maze—innovate or die.” A sobering insight was that only around 70% of cotton grown in the U.S. is harvested, underscoring the inefficiencies and environmental impact of current practices.

Mr Chalumpon shared how VT is embracing this challenge by integrating AI throughout our operations—from robotics and vision systems for garment sizing, to risk analysis portals and even sewing machine vibration monitoring to determine cycle times. These innovations are not just about efficiency—they’re about creating real value across the supply chain.

He also advocated for a shift in mindset: from chasing the lowest price to delivering the highest value. By reducing lead times and improving forecast accuracy, we can minimise overproduction and markdowns—benefiting both people and the planet.

We also gained valuable insights into Thailand’s AI strategy, updates on sustainability-related regulations in the US and EU from SGS Hong Kong, and the shared challenges faced by cotton farmers, whose yields and livelihoods are increasingly affected by climate volatility. Sewing remains a people-first industry, and we deeply empathise with every link in our supply chain.

As Mr Chalumpon highlighted, companies like Patagonia demonstrate that when we prioritise people, planet, and profit—in that order—success will follow.

Sustainability is no longer optional. It’s the future of fashion.
