Strengthening Our Capabilities Through On-the-Job Training (OJT)

Today, we kicked off our training on On the Job Training (OJT)—one of the two new competencies we are introducing this year, building on the eight competencies launched last year. This marks another important step in elevating how we develop our people across the organisation.
To illustrate the importance of OJT, we drew inspiration from Formula 1. In an F1 race, a split‑second tyre change can determine who wins. The efficiency, precision, and teamwork in the pit stop make all the difference.
In our world, the “pit stop” is the changeover from one style to another. There is significant potential loss during this process—loss of time, output, and momentum. The question is: how do we minimise this?
The answer lies in learner‑centred, structured On-the-Job Training.
There’s a saying: “We are as good as our teacher.”
If we want consistent performance and smooth operations, we must empower our trainers to transfer skills effectively and confidently.
Our objectives for today’s training:
1. Ensure our team members understand the main steps of OJT
2. Equip them to deliver effective, learner-centred OJT on the production floor
Today was just the beginning—but an important beginning.
We are excited and optimistic about rolling OJT out across all our operations and seeing a real shift in how we approach training, learning, and skill development.
Better OJT. Better skills. Better performance.
Onwards!
